PIM Alumni joined hands with Batch 2021 of PIM, in response to the need of the hour as Sri Lanka experienced one of the worst waves of the covid 19 pandemic. The project was coordinated by Ramesh Dasanayaka Secretary PIMA under the guidance of Mr. Jayantha Ranpura Senior Registrar of PIM.
At a time when the hospitals were overloaded by the number of patients who needed high flow oxygen for mere survival, these two teams came up with an idea to assist two outstation hospitals that had comparatively lesser facilities than Colombo hospitals.
Accordingly, District General Hospital Gampaha and Base Hospital Wathupitiwela were chosen, for the donation a high flow ventilator unit and 20 units of wall oxygen outlets & wall oxygen flow meters, respectively.
An open call was made to raise funds through PIMA fraternity, and in answer to that more than 2.1 m lkr was raised within a few weeks, with the contributions of those generous hearted. The projects were executed promptly and handed over the two hospitals amongst the blessings of many.
